Google dropped a bombshell on its Google  Cloud  Platform  IoT  Core Service users. The service will be discontinued exactly a year from now. Its only public statement so far has been a notice on the IoT Core site which said the Google Cloud IoT Core will be retiring on August 16, 2023, and asked users to contact their Google Cloud account team for further information. A Hackernews post provided the text of an email sent by the firm to users, which read that the firm was writing to let them know that Google Cloud’s IoT Core Service would be discontinued on August 16, 2023. At that point, the users’ access to the IoT Core Device Manager APIs would no longer be available. As of August 16, 2023, devices would be unable to connect to the Google Cloud IoT Core HTTP and MQTT bridges and existing connections would be shut down. How Does Image Classification Work?

Image
Have you ever wondered how computers deliver accurate image search results? Or how do mobile phones automatically tag your friends once you click their face in a group photo? These are only a few of the numerous things machines can do by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI). With computer vision and image recognition, AI or machine learning-enabled computers can process images by detecting and classifying them. Training these machines requires big data to use a high-quality  image annotation tool  to train the algorithms. But how does image classification work in machine learning (ML)? You’ll find out the answer in this article.  What is image classification?  Machines can’t process images in the same manner as humans do. They rely on vectors or pixels to analyze one. However, with the help of AI or ML training models, they can be trained to identify and classify an image. Electronically processing an image involves a machine receiving an input—in this cas...

Camp Lejeune Water Contamination Lawsuit

Image
Water is essential to human life, which is why it is important to ensure that it is clean and safe for people to drink. Unfortunately, this is not always the case, as the water gets contaminated by harmful chemicals and pollutants. You must contact a personal injury lawyer immediately if you ever face severe water contamination issues. You might be entitled to compensation depending on the extent of the harm to your health. This article will look at how Camp Lejeune's water contamination changed the history of lawsuits. What is Camp Lejeune? Gold investors face bind over Russian gold bars

Image
Certain investors want Russian gold off their books, but it’s not easy to remove. An effective ban on Russian bullion minted after Russia invaded Ukraine—instigated by the London market in early March—does not apply to hundreds of tons of gold sitting in commercial vaults since before the conflict started. According to investors and  bankers , fund managers looking to sell the metal to avoid deepening the reputational risk of holding assets linked to Russia in their portfolios could trigger a costly scramble to replace non-Russian gold. Christopher Mellor at Invesco said this would only damage investors, not the Russian regime. His fund at Invesco has nearly 265 tons of gold, 35 tons produced in Russia, with a market value of almost $2 billion. The dilemma faced by investors reflects Russia’s influence in the global bullion trade and its hub, the London market, where gold worth nearly $50 billion changes hands every day in private deals. A rapid selloff of gold from Russia—a...

The new Tomb Raider movie will feature a new Lara Croft

Image
Tomb Raider’s  movie  rights are for the taking. According to TheWrap, the Amazon-owned MGM waited too long to make a sequel to its 2018 Tomb Raider film, liberating the rights for the next Hollywood studio that wants to take a stab at creating an adaption of the long-running video  game  franchise. Several studios are currently engaged in a bidding war to snap up the Tomb Raider rights. And since the license come with no obligation to retain the same cast and crew, the next Tomb Raider film could be a total that passes the Lara Croft baton to yet another actress. The 2018 Tomb Raider starred Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft and was met with mixed reviews that criticized its weak portrayal of the series’ namesake archaeologist. MGM’s Tomb Raider seems to blend elements from the 2013 game with the early 2000s Tomb Raider film adaptions starring Angelina Jolie. MGM originally planned to release a sequel to its film in 2021, but the COVID-19 pandemic likely got in t...
